Abstract

Abstract (english)

Reasoning on the themes of religion/violence/peace means questioning the link that is assumed to exist between these terms and through which lenses one chooses to observe them. Some authors consider the phenomenon of religious violence as a phenomenon intrinsically linked to the religions themselves. Others question that a direct link can be established between religions and forms of violence considered religious. The debate on religion/violence/peace is invested by the developments of the theories of secularization and by the transformations in the approaches to the secular and religious categories. Ulrich Beck and Jürgen Habermas both placed themselves in the last part of their career in this process of transformation, questioning, sometimes with some effort and ambiguity and not without criticism, their previous positions.
