Abstract

Abstract (english)

In this paper I take in account the concept of fausses nouvelles [fake news] in the historiographical practice of Marc Bloch. Developed in the World War I, his reflection on the function of falsehood in the work of historians still is today an essential contribution in the epistemological debate in historiography and historical sciences. The essay aims to illustrate how Bloch’s observations on the psychological and anthropological meaning of the production of fausses nouvelles in the past can be a useful tool to understand the contemporary phenomenon of “fake news”. In this respect, the conclusion proposes a general consideration, based on the “fake news” case, about the usefulness of the historical science and the humanities in general for the comprehension of digital transformations.
