Abstract

Abstract (english)

The paper investigates the notion of subjectivity through a performative lens, taking the aesthetic-performative field as a privileged site for observing the co-constitutive dynamics between human and non-human. Drawing on Erika Fischer-Lichte’s aesthetics of the performative, the analysis turns to the embodied practices through which sense and meaning emerge within the event itself, thereby challenging the mind/body and subject/object dichotomies. This perspective, however, is shown to remain structurally anchored in physical co-presence – a premise that necessitates engagement with debates on liveness, understood here as a historical, constructed, and situated category. Interrogating liveness allows the analysis to move beyond traditional approaches, extending toward a conception of subjectivity that is constituted through relational processes of mediatization and foregrounding the active role of non-human elements within performative subjectivity. Within this framework, the analysis engages with Karen Barad’s proposal to rethink performativity in terms of material intra-actions between human and non-human.
